Salsoul Orchestra were the house band of Salsoul records. The band was formed using members of MFSB that Salsoul had poached from Philadelphia International Records.
A Philly Soul Track From Salsoul
This track was released early in Salsoul's second phase, when their sound was based on Philly Soul. This track really sounds a lot like an early disco track in the style of Philly Soul. The main difference of this track from Philly Soul is that it was released as a longer track to be club friendly.
This is Salsoul Orchestra's debut record. This track was made very soon after MFSB members were recruited by Salsoul to form the Salsoul Orchestra. The prominent vibraphone is by Vincent Montana Jr. and it could be considered a taunt of Gamble and Huff.
An Early Warehouse Staple
This track was released in 1975, two years before The Warehouse opened in March 1977. Therefore it was already in Frankie Knuckles record collection and became a staple of the early Warehouse days. Frankie Knuckles was a big fan of Salsoul Records and also the Philly sound, so this track ticked all the boxes.
