The M.B.O. Theme By Klein & M.B.O. (1983)
The M.B.O. Theme isn't house. It's Italo disco from 1983, the year before the first house release. Even so, it's a perfect template for jacking house music, with a typical jacking house bassline. The M.B.O. Theme used a typical 80s Chicago-style bass pattern before Chicago ever did. It's hard to say where Chicago first got that characteristic bassline style from, but this track certainly helped.

These days, The M.B.O. Theme is best know for being part of the GTA soundtrack, but Jeff Mills revisited this bassline in 1989 to create one of the biggest house classics of the decade. Another twist is that Take Me Away didn't become a hit until it was re-released in 1991 with a new mix, to become a classic of the rave scene.
